The Fiji Meteorological Service has announced the cancellation of a heavy rain warning for several regions, including Viti Levu, the Mamanuca Group, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and the Southern Lau Group. However, a heavy rain alert remains in effect for the Northern Division, Yasawa, Northern Lau, and Lomaiviti Groups, as the weather situation continues to evolve.

Currently, Tropical Depression TD03F is positioned northwest of Yasawa-i-Rara and is moving gradually to the north of Fiji. The accompanying trough, which is leading to rain bands, is expected to impact various parts of the Fiji Group until Thursday. Forecasts indicate occasional rain in Vanua Levu, Yasawa, Northern Lau, and Lomaiviti Groups, with the possibility of heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Authorities have cautioned that flash flooding might still pose a risk in low-lying and flood-prone areas, including informal settlements and businesses, which could potentially disrupt traffic. Motorists are urged to exercise caution due to slippery road conditions that heighten the chances of accidents and travel delays, especially in areas prone to poor drainage.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the situation is under constant monitoring, and residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared as the weather improves. The proactive measures from the Fiji Meteorological Service reflect a commitment to public safety and awareness, fostering resilience in the face of natural weather events.
