A low-pressure trough is currently hovering over the Fiji Group, bringing clouds and heavy rainfall. As reported by the Fiji Meteorological Service on Friday, this system is gradually advancing eastward.

Showers are set to impact various regions throughout the day, with intermittent rain expected in areas including Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Sigatoka, the Coral Coast, and the interiors of Ra-Rakiraki, Naitasiri, Serua, Namosi, Lau, and the Lomaiviti Group. Other regions may experience cloudy intervals accompanied by showers, with the potential for afternoon or evening thunderstorms and intense rainfall.

These localized heavy downpours pose a risk of flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas, which necessitates caution among residents.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the forecast suggests persistent cloudy weather with occasional showers affecting the greater Suva-Nausori-Tailevu areas, as well as the interior regions of Ra-Rakiraki, Naitasiri, Serua, and Namosi, along with the Southern Bua and Cakaudrove areas, and the Lau and Lomaiviti Groups. In other regions, conditions are expected to remain fine, punctuated by isolated showers in the afternoons or evenings.

In light of this weather forecast, it is vital for residents to stay informed and prepared for possible flooding, especially in vulnerable areas. Communities are encouraged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during the inclement weather.

The continued attention to weather patterns exemplifies Fiji’s commitment to enhancing preparedness and safety for its inhabitants, showcasing hope for resilient communities in the face of weather challenges.
