Fiji Braces for Heavy Rains: Flash Flooding Threatens Eastern Regions

A trough of low pressure is anticipated to predominantly impact the eastern regions of Fiji. This update was confirmed by the Fiji Meteorological Service Office in Nadi.

A heavy rain warning has been issued for certain areas within the Fiji group, which will be affected throughout the week. Fiji MET has cautioned that intense rainfall could result in flash flooding in low-lying regions, particularly in Navua, Suva, and Nausori, accompanied by occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Looking ahead to Thursday, there are expectations of intermittent rain, which may be heavy at times, along with scattered thunderstorms. Such rainfall could also lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas of Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, with cloudy periods and showers expected, particularly in the afternoon or evening.

Localized intense rainfall may cause flash flooding in vulnerable areas. Additionally, for Labasa, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted to continue until Friday.
