A heavy rain alert has been issued for the Fiji group due to an approaching active trough of low pressure from the north. The Nadi Weather Office has indicated that this weather system is expected to bring significant rainfall and thunderstorms starting later today. The heaviest rainfall is anticipated in the northern regions, but the conditions are expected to spread throughout Fiji by tomorrow.

The weather office has also cautioned that the intense rainfall could result in flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas. In addition to the heavy rain, isolated thunderstorms may occur in the southern and interior locations of Viti Levu, including areas such as Sigatoka, interior Nadroga-Navosa, Serua-Namosi, and others.

As the country braces for this weather event, residents are encouraged to stay informed and be prepared for potentially severe conditions. The timely alert can help ensure safety and minimize disruption.

It’s important to remain vigilant during such weather events, and with proper precautions, communities can navigate through the challenges posed by nature.
