A low-pressure trough is anticipated to primarily impact the eastern regions of Fiji. This update was confirmed by forecasters at the Fiji Meteorological Service Office in Nadi. A heavy rain warning has been issued, indicating that several locations within the Fiji group will experience affected weather conditions throughout the week.
The Fiji Meteorological Service warned that significant rainfall could cause flash flooding in low-lying areas, specifically in Navua, Suva, and Nausori, accompanied by occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms.
For Thursday’s forecast, forecasters predict intermittent rain, which may be heavy at times, alongside some thunderstorms. These heavy rainfalls are expected to potentially cause flash flooding in low-lying regions, particularly affecting Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba. The weather will be characterized by cloudy periods with showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening.
Localized heavy rainfall may also result in flash flooding in low-lying areas. In Labasa, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue until Friday.
