Fiji is bracing for an increase in rainfall over the coming days, raising concerns about potential flash flooding in various regions. The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain alert that remains active for the Northern Division, Yasawa, and Mamanuca Groups. This alert encompasses the western and northern sections of Viti Levu, including areas from Momi to Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki.

The weather office reports that a trough of low pressure is currently influencing the weather patterns, leading to cloud coverage and rainfall in the western and northern regions of Fiji. This weather system is expected to gradually impact the remainder of the country starting tomorrow. A north to easterly wind flow persists across Fiji.

Forecasts predict occasional rain, with periods of heavy rainfall and some thunderstorms anticipated for the Northern Division, Yasawa, Mamanuca Groups, Viti Levu, and nearby smaller islands. Additionally, there are projections of isolated thunderstorms with the possibility of significant rainfall, which may result in flash flooding in low-lying areas, hazardous road conditions, and reduced visibility.

As the country prepares for these weather changes, it is essential for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety, particularly in vulnerable areas. The community can utilize this opportunity to come together and support each other during potentially challenging weather conditions.

In summary, while the forecast indicates adverse weather, it also serves as a reminder of the resilience and solidarity that often shines through in times of hardship in Fiji.
