A heavy rain alert has been issued for the western and northern regions of Fiji due to a trough of low pressure bringing significant cloud and rainfall to the areas. This weather pattern is expected to expand across the rest of the country by tomorrow.

Currently, a north to easterly wind flow is affecting the islands. Forecasts indicate that occasional rain, which may become heavy at times, along with a few thunderstorms, will be experienced in the Northern Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, as well as Viti Levu and nearby smaller islands. Isolated thunderstorms could lead to heavy rainfall, raising concerns about flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Day-to-day activities may be disrupted as road conditions worsen and visibility decreases due to the rain. The Fiji Meteorological Service plans to issue its next bulletin at 10:30 PM tonight, keeping residents informed about the evolving weather situation.

This alert serves as an important reminder for communities to stay prepared and vigilant during adverse weather conditions. It’s a good opportunity for residents to review safety measures and remain informed to mitigate potential impacts.
