Fiji Braces for Heavy Rain: What You Need to Know!

Spread the love

A significant rain alert has been issued for the western and northern regions of Fiji as a trough of low pressure brings increased cloud cover and rain to these areas. This weather pattern is expected to extend over the rest of the country by tomorrow. Currently, a north to easterly wind flow is influencing conditions throughout Fiji.

Forecasts indicate that the Northern Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Viti Levu, and nearby smaller islands can expect occasional rain, with periods of heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms. The risks of isolated thunderstorms may lead to localized heavy downpours, raising concerns about flash flooding in low-lying areas.

As day-to-day activities might be disrupted due to wet roads and decreased visibility, it is advisable to exercise caution. The Fiji Meteorological Service plans to provide an update with their next bulletin at 10:30 PM tonight.

This forecast serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness during adverse weather conditions. With proactive measures and community awareness, residents can navigate through the challenges posed by heavy rainfall. Stay safe and informed as the situation develops.
