The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a warning of heavy rainfall anticipated to affect many regions of the country starting tomorrow. According to the service’s latest update released at 10:30 PM, a heavy rain alert is currently active for several areas, including Vanua Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands, and the western and northern sections of Viti Levu, specifically regions from Momi to Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba extending through Tavua to Rakiraki. The alert also applies to the interior areas of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri, and Tailevu Provinces.

The inclement weather is associated with a trough of low pressure, which is generating clouds and rain in the western and northern coastal regions. This weather pattern is projected to spread throughout the rest of the nation by tomorrow. In addition to the expected rainfall, occasional thunderstorms are likely, with isolated areas experiencing particularly heavy downpours.

Residents are advised to be cautious of potential hazards, such as flash flooding in low-lying areas and impaired visibility when driving.

In light of these weather conditions, it is important for communities to stay informed and prepared for the incoming rain. While heavy rainfall can present challenges, proactive measures can help mitigate risks and ensure safety. Engaging in community preparedness initiatives and keeping emergency contact information handy can provide a sense of readiness during severe weather events.

In summary, Fiji will encounter significant rainfall in the coming days, necessitating awareness and caution from residents across affected areas.
