A heavy rain warning has been issued for the western and northern regions of Viti Levu, including areas from Momi in Nadi to Rakiraki, as well as parts of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri, and Tailevu provinces, along with Vanua Levu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca groups.

The Fiji Meteorological Service announced in a bulletin at 10:30 AM that a trough of low pressure is currently stationary in the far northwest of the country, and it is expected to shift southward and impact the northwestern areas of Fiji from later today.

Forecasts indicate that showers will develop over these regions, likely escalating to frequent and heavy rain as the day progresses. There is also potential for isolated thunderstorms that could bring heavy rainfall to these areas.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepare for the expected weather changes in the coming days.

With proper readiness and community support, local authorities and residents can work together to mitigate any challenges brought by the rainy conditions. It’s a reminder of the resilience and strength of the Fijian community in responding to adverse weather.
