A heavy rain warning has been issued for the Yasawa and Mamanuca Islands, Viti Levu, Kadavu, as well as smaller nearby islands in Lau and the Lomaiviti group. According to the Fiji weather office, a trough of low pressure is currently impacting the area.

The forecast indicates that the region will experience periods of rain, with heavy showers expected at times, particularly affecting Yasawa, Mamanuca, Viti Levu, Kadavu, and the surrounding smaller islands, along with Lau and Lomaiviti. Thunderstorms are also anticipated in these areas. However, it is expected that the rain will begin to ease to lighter showers by later tomorrow as the trough weakens.

In other regions, intermittent rainfall and isolated thunderstorms are forecasted, with the potential for isolated heavy downpours.

This rainfall can be both a challenge and an opportunity for the affected areas, as it replenishes water sources and supports agriculture while also necessitating preparedness for the potential flooding that can occur. It’s important for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions.

As the rain subsides, the region can look forward to clearer skies, promoting recovery and growth in the days to come.
