A heavy rain warning has been issued for the western and northern regions of Viti Levu, covering areas from Momi in Nadi to Rakiraki, as well as the interior sections of Ba, Ra, Nadroga/Navosa, Serua/Namosi, Naitasiri, and Tailevu provinces, along with Vanua Levu, and the Yasawa and Mamanuca island groups.

According to the Fiji Meteorological Service’s bulletin released at 10:30 AM, a trough of low pressure is currently situated in the far northwest of the country, and it is anticipated to move southward, impacting the northwestern parts of Fiji starting later today.

The forecast indicates that in the specified regions of Viti Levu, showers are expected to develop and gradually intensify into more frequent and heavier rainfall. Additionally, isolated thunderstorms with significant rainfall are likely in these areas.

In light of this impending weather, it’s vital for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety and preparedness for potential flooding or related hazards. Communities can come together by sharing resources and supporting one another during this time.

As the weather conditions evolve, the hopes for improved agricultural benefits due to the rainfall could also be a silver lining for farmers and the local economy.
