A severe rain alert has been issued for the regions of Vanua Levu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca Islands. According to the Fiji Meteorological Service’s bulletin released at 10:30 PM, a slow-moving trough of low pressure is currently located to the far West-Northwest of Fiji, bringing cloud and rain to the area.

This weather system is expected to drift southward, impacting the Northwestern regions of Fiji from tomorrow onwards. The forecast indicates that Vanua Levu, Yasawa, and the Mamanuca groups will experience increasing showers that may transition to frequent and heavy rain starting tomorrow. Additionally, isolated thunderstorms, which could bring heavy downpours, are also anticipated.

The Fiji Meteorological Service warns that potential effects of the rain include isolated flash flooding in low-lying areas. Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the weather conditions evolve.

This alert serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness in the face of adverse weather events. Communities are encouraged to stay vigilant and keep safety as a priority during this period of heavy rainfall.
