A heavy rain warning has been issued for the entire Fiji Group as unsettled weather continues to impact the region. The Fiji Meteorological Service indicates that a trough of low pressure, creating extensive cloud cover and rainfall, remains active over the islands.

As a result, residents can expect occasional to prolonged rainfall across most areas, with certain locations experiencing heavy downpours and thunderstorms. Recent rainfall data collected from 9 AM yesterday to 9 AM today shows significant accumulations: Penang saw 93.0 millimeters, Dobuilevu recorded 85.5 millimeters, Vunisea had 83.5 millimeters, and Nagado reported 79.0 millimeters.

Authorities caution that the intense rainfall may lead to flash flooding, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying communities, as well as possible disruptions to businesses and road crossings, potentially affecting traffic. Motorists are advised to remain vigilant, as the slippery conditions increase the risk of accidents, especially in areas that are poorly drained.

The public is encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions and to take necessary safety precautions as the wet weather persists. This ongoing situation serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness in the face of unpredictable weather patterns.
