Police are currently stationed at evacuation centers across Fiji’s Southern, Eastern, Northern, and Central Divisions due to a heavy rain warning affecting the entire region. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed ongoing collaboration with the National Disaster Management Office to effectively handle the challenging weather conditions.

ACP Driu emphasized that police teams are prepared and ready for deployment, urging residents in low-lying areas to remain alert and take necessary safety precautions. The public is strongly encouraged to follow all warnings and advisories issued by local authorities.

Residents who require help relocating to higher ground or evacuation centers can reach out to the Fiji Police Force at 917, the National Fire Authority at 910, or the Police Command and Coordination Centre at 9905296.

This proactive stance mirrors previous instances where the Fiji Police Force demonstrated a firm commitment to community safety during adverse weather events. Such readiness not only highlights the importance of swift action in emergencies but also strengthens the community’s resilience and sense of preparedness. The dedication of local authorities to safeguard residents during crises cultivates hope and solidarity, encouraging everyone to remain united in facing these challenges.
