Fiji is bracing for a wet week ahead as Tropical Depression TD03F approaches. A heavy rain warning has been issued for the entire archipelago, accompanied by a flash flood warning for areas vulnerable to flooding, especially low-lying regions and small streams.
The storm system, which is currently located northeast of Vanuatu, is anticipated to move into Fiji’s waters, bringing with it sustained heavy rainfall and gusty northerly winds. This could lead to dangerous conditions on roads and rivers, turning familiar paths hazardous.
Residents living near creeks, rivers, and coastal zones are encouraged to remain vigilant and prepare for the possibility of sudden flooding. Mariners are advised to refrain from unnecessary trips as seas are expected to become rough, impacting visibility significantly.
Motorists are also urged to exercise caution by reducing speed, being mindful of flooded crossings and landslides, and prioritizing safety as conditions may deteriorate quickly.
With these warnings in place, Fijians are urged to stay informed and prepared to ensure their safety as the tropical system unfolds.
