A topical disturbance designated as TD 01F is currently advancing toward the Fiji Group, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall through tomorrow. The Fiji Meteorological Service reports that as of midday today, TD 01F was situated approximately 240 km west of Yasawa-i-Rara and 270 km west-northwest of Nadi, moving southeast at around 20 km/h.

In response to this weather system, a heavy rain warning has been issued for the entire Fiji Group, accompanied by a strong wind warning for several coastal areas. Specifically, regions on the western and northern parts of Viti Levu, including Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki, and others, as well as the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, and parts of Vanua Levu, Taveuni, and smaller islands, are expected to experience hazardous weather conditions.

A flood alert is currently in effect for areas that are vulnerable to flooding, particularly those adjacent to major rivers. Furthermore, a flash flood warning is in place for low-lying areas, especially on Vanua Levu and the interior and western parts of Viti Levu, as localized heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods due to already saturated ground.

As TD 01F approaches, periods of rain, potentially heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, are anticipated across most regions. The forecast indicates that river levels are likely to rise, increasing the risk of flooding in affected areas.

Despite the challenging weather, there is hope that the community can come together to prepare and respond effectively to this disturbance, ensuring safety and minimizing the impact of heavy rainfall and potential flooding. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and adhere to warnings from local authorities.

Summary: TD 01F is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to Fiji until tomorrow, prompting warnings and flood alerts throughout the region. Residents should prepare for possible flooding, especially in vulnerable areas, and stay updated on the situation.
