A heavy rain warning continues to be in effect across the Fiji Group as an active trough of low pressure lingers over the region. The Fiji Meteorological Service has indicated that periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to persist through tomorrow.

A flash flood warning is currently active for all of Viti Levu, with a flash flood alert also issued for Vanua Levu. The Nadi Weather Office cautions that intense downpours could lead to sudden flooding, particularly in low-lying areas.

Flood warnings have been issued for specific locations, including the Nakauvadra River in Rakiraki, Naseyani at the Yaqara River, Tavua River, and floodplains around the Ba River. Additionally, there is a flood alert for low-lying regions near the Nadi, Nawaka, and Tuva rivers in Nadroga.

Forecasts predict that most areas will experience occasional rain, with heavy showers at times and the potential for thunderstorms. Conditions are anticipated to improve later tomorrow, although winds will remain moderate to fresh from the northwest, with gusty periods expected. The sea conditions are also predicted to be rough.

Looking ahead, intermittent showers will persist across the country tomorrow, with isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms bringing heavy rainfall particularly over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Wind patterns are expected to shift northeasterly by late in the day, and sea conditions will become moderate.

Furthermore, a heavy rain alert remains active for Rotuma, where the island is anticipated to experience occasional heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms, accompanied by moderate winds and moderate to rough seas. The warnings highlight the importance of staying alert and prepared as the weather conditions evolve in the coming days.
