A heavy rain alert has been issued for the Vanua Levu, Yasawa, and Mamanuca islands in Fiji. According to the Fiji Meteorological Service’s bulletin released at 10:30 PM, a trough of low pressure is currently located to the far West-Northwest of the country. This weather system is expected to move southward and impact the Northwestern regions of Fiji starting tomorrow.

The forecast for these areas indicates that showers will increase, becoming frequent and heavy as the day progresses. Isolated thunderstorms are also expected, alongside the likelihood of significant rainfall. The Fiji Meteorological Service warns that there could be isolated flash flooding in low-lying regions as a result of the heavy rain.

As communities prepare for the impending weather changes, it is essential to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure safety. Awareness and readiness can help mitigate the impacts of heavy rain and potential flooding.

It is hopeful that the timely alert allows residents to prepare adequately, ultimately ensuring their safety during this weather event. Proper preparations can significantly reduce the risks and consequences associated with heavy rainfall.
