A heavy rain alert has been issued for the Fiji group as an active trough of low pressure approaches from the North. According to the Nadi Weather Office, this weather system is anticipated to hit the region later today, resulting in occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms, particularly in the northern areas where the most severe conditions are expected before spreading throughout Fiji by tomorrow.

The Nadi Weather Office has also issued warnings that localized heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in low-lying regions. Furthermore, isolated thunderstorms are predicted in the southern and interior sections of Viti Levu, impacting areas such as Sigatoka, interior Nadroga-Navosa, Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Naitasiri, southern Bua, and Cakaudrove.

It’s crucial for residents to remain vigilant and prepared as this weather system moves in, as it can pose risks to safety and infrastructure.

As potentially challenging weather conditions unfold, this situation could also serve as a reminder of the resilience and community spirit that often arises during tough times in Fiji. Communities are likely to come together to support each other through any adverse effects of the weather.
