Fiji Braces for Heavy Rain and Possible Flash Flooding

A trough of low pressure is anticipated to primarily impact the eastern regions of Fiji. This information was confirmed by weather forecasters at the Fiji Meteorological Service Office in Nadi.

A heavy rain warning has been issued for various locations within the Fiji group that are expected to experience adverse weather conditions throughout the week. According to Fiji MET, significant rainfall could result in flash flooding in low-lying areas of Navua, Suva, and Nausori, accompanied by sporadic showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Looking ahead to Thursday, occasional rain, which may be heavy at times, is forecast along with a few thunderstorms. This heavy rainfall could also lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas, particularly in Nadi, Lautoka, and Ba, with expected cloudy conditions featuring showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening.

Localized heavy rainfall may create further flash flooding risks in low-lying regions. In Labasa, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted to continue until Friday.
