Residents in parts of Fiji’s Southern and Central Eastern Divisions, such as Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu North, Ovalau, Kadavu, Coral Coast, and Vanua Levu, have been issued a warning about ongoing flood risks as a flash flood alert remains in effect.

According to a special bulletin from the Fiji Meteorological Service released at 6:30 AM, a trough of low pressure is causing heavy cloud and rain that continues to impact these regions. The authorities have warned that this isolated heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, which may affect local drainages, small streams, low-water bridges, IRIS crossings, roads, and properties situated in low-lying areas.

In light of these developments, residents in the affected areas are strongly advised to stay vigilant and take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety. While such situations can be concerning, the community’s preparedness and swift action can play a crucial role in mitigating potential risks. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation, reinforcing the importance of remaining alert in the face of nature’s unpredictability.
