The Fiji Meteorological Service has reported that Tropical Depression TD07F is currently situated well to the west of the nation and is not anticipated to develop into a tropical cyclone. As of 6 AM today, the depression was positioned at approximately 21.8°S, 173.6°E, roughly 580 kilometers west-southwest of Kadavu and about 800 kilometers west of Ono-i-Lau.
Moving southward at a brisk pace of around 38 kilometers per hour, Meteorologists indicate that TD07F is navigating into a predominantly unfavorable environment that will restrict its potential intensification. Despite this, the associated rainbands and strong northwesterly winds are still having an impact on various parts of Fiji. The regions most affected include the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, western Viti Levu, western Vanua Levu, and nearby areas.
Notably, a peak wind gust reaching 70 kilometers per hour was recorded in Nadi last night. The Fiji Meteorological Service is actively monitoring the situation and is prepared to provide additional updates if necessary.
As the nation remains vigilant, there is hope that adverse weather will pass without causing significant disruption.
