Fiji Boxing Promoters Ink MoU to Support Kids Charity Ahead of November Show

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on October 14 by the Stratum-sponsored ZEG Kings Boxing Promotion and WOWS Kids Fiji, marking a collaborative effort ahead of the upcoming boxing event scheduled for November 1 at Vodafone Arena in Suva. This partnership is a first for both organizations and signifies a commitment to not just boxing but also community support.

The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of All Freight Logistics Fiji Limited in Vatuwaqa. Nahroon Buksh, promoter for ZEG Kings Boxing Promotion, stressed the importance of community contribution, emphasizing their goal to assist local non-governmental organizations and boxing clubs in the future. “We, the ZEG Kings Boxing Promotion, believe that giving something to the community is a very worthy thing to do,” Buksh stated. He highlighted plans to support WOWS Kids Fiji with resources such as boxing equipment and trainer compensation, expressing excitement for the future collaborations.

Mere Williams, Manager Operations for WOWS Kids Fiji, noted that this partnership opens new avenues for raising awareness about childhood cancer. “It’s in a different community that just gives us more opportunities to be able to create more awareness around childhood cancer,” she explained. This collaboration not only bridges sports with charity but also enhances community spirit as both entities work towards a noble cause.

The ZEG Kings Boxing event promises to be more than just a night of boxing. Similar previous events have successfully united the community for similar charitable purposes. For instance, WOWS Kids Fiji recently received significant support from the Fiji Football Association, which donated over $32,000 from ticket sales at football tournaments to aid children battling cancer. This ongoing collaboration showcases a united front in the fight against childhood cancer, fostering compassion and community involvement.

Such initiatives reflect an uplifting trend where sports and charitable organizations collaboratively create impactful changes in their communities. As the boxing event approaches, expectations for community support and engagement remain high, driving hope for both the advancement of boxing in Fiji and the vital support for children in need.
