“Fiji Boxing Legacy Continues: Vakalalabure Sons Step in the Ring”

The sons of former Fiji welterweight champion Tevita Vakalalabure will be fighting in the South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP) in Labasa on Friday, August 10. SPBP promoter Fred Chand confirmed that Kimo and Kali Vakalalabure are part of the event, training with their father at Natewa Bay.

In an exhibition bout, Kimo will compete against Nasoni Rawaci of Bua, while Kali will face Junior Saula of Labasa in a four-round contest. Chand mentioned that the promotion aims to help revive boxing in Vanua Levu, with the last boxing programme in Labasa having taken place nine years ago.

Labasa has a rich history of producing renowned boxers including Isimeli Radrodro, Atunaisa Camaibau, Inia Catarogo, Samuela Vocea, Sikeli Veitala, Lorima Rakula, Noa Bukai, Tevita Vakalabure, Atama Raqili, Nat Ledua, Jare Lalakai, Bobby Shah, Setefano Vasuibau, Sharamat Shah, among others.

The main bout features Fiji super welterweight champion Winston Hill against Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser of Vanuatu, with the programme also including three title fights.
