Tevita Vakalalabure’s sons, Kimo and Kali, are set to compete in the South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP) in Labasa on Friday, August 10. This announcement was confirmed by SPBP promoter Fred Chand to SUNsports.
“They are training with their dad at Natewa Bay,” Chand mentioned. In an exhibition match, Kimo will face Nasoni Rawaci of Bua, while Kali will square off against Junior Saula of Labasa in a four-round contest.
Chand emphasized that this event is part of SPBP’s efforts to revive boxing in Vanua Levu, noting that the last boxing event in Labasa occurred nine years ago.
Vanua Levu has a rich boxing history, producing renowned boxers such as Isimeli Radrodro, Atunaisa Camaibau, Inia Catarogo, Samuela Vocea, Sikeli Veitala, Lorima Rakula, Noa Bukai, Vakalalabure, Atama Raqili, Nat Ledua, Jare Lalakai, Bobby Shah, Setefano Vasuibau, Sharamat Shah, among others.
The highlight of the event will feature Fiji super welterweight champion Winston Hill taking on Roy ‘Tsunami’ Ser of Vanuatu. The program also includes three title fights.
