The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently investigating a brawl that occurred during the heavyweight title match at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event in Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, on Saturday night, along with another related incident. This inquiry was initiated following directives from Jese Saukuru, the Minister for Youth and Sports, who has requested the Commission to reveal its findings today regarding the individuals involved in the altercation.
Minister Saukuru expressed his concerns, as well as those of the government, emphasizing that such incidents are unacceptable in professional boxing. He remarked, “Boxing is a sport. People are trying to exercise their power, but I have asked them to investigate.” He noted that video clips indicated that fighter Dauloloma was performing well and was winning before the situation escalated.
BCF chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that a press conference is scheduled to take place in Suva this morning to address the matter.
