The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is committed to ensuring that all boxers have fair opportunities to compete in matches, regardless of their experience levels. This statement was made by BCF chairman Adi Narayan during the recent launch of the Bluewater Boxing Promotion at the Holiday Inn in Suva.

Narayan emphasized that the Commission would not interfere with matchups, even when there is a discrepancy in the number of fights between opponents. He stated, “If a boxer has a record that does not match an opponent, the commission will not object to that.” This philosophy underscores the Commission’s belief that boxing is ultimately a contest where athletes should have a chance to demonstrate their skills.

In particular, Narayan announced that Robin Hazelman would be given an opportunity to challenge cruiserweight titleholder Alivereti Kauyaca, provided that Hazelman first defeats Joseph Kwadjo. “Give him a chance, he might knock him out, and we’ll see what happens in the Bluewater boxing promotions on February 22,” Narayan remarked, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the upcoming bout.

The main event, which features Hazelman and Kwadjo, will take place at the Vodafone Arena and is set to include a total of 15 bouts.

This commitment to inclusivity in boxing is encouraging, as it opens doors for emerging talents to showcase their abilities on a larger platform. By placing emphasis on competition over experience, the BCF fosters a vibrant and dynamic boxing culture in Fiji that encourages personal growth and opportunity for all athletes, no matter their past records.

Ultimately, fans can look forward to an exciting event that not only showcases the sport’s competitive spirit but also inspires hope and ambition among boxers in the region.
