The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently investigating a brawl that took place during the heavyweight title fight at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event in Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, on Saturday night. The inquiry was initiated following instructions from the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, who has requested the Commission to make a decision regarding the individuals involved in the incident by today.
Minister Saukuru expressed his concerns about the situation, emphasizing that such occurrences are unacceptable in professional boxing. “Boxing is a sport, and while people may wish to assert their power, it’s essential that we address this issue. I have asked the Commission to conduct a thorough investigation,” he stated. He also noted that footage of the fight shows that competitor Dauloloma was performing well and should not have been involved in the altercation.
BCF chairman Adi Narayan has confirmed that a press conference is scheduled for this morning in Suva to discuss the developments.
