The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently conducting an investigation into a brawl that occurred during the Fiji heavyweight title fight and a related incident at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night.

The inquiry was initiated following a directive from the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, who has called for the Commission to reveal their decisions regarding those involved by today.

“We are entrusting the Boxing Commission of Fiji board to investigate and ascertain what transpired,” Saukuru stated. “I have communicated my concerns, as well as those of the Government.”

The Minister emphasized that such incidents should not occur in professional boxing. “Boxing is a sport, and while individuals may try to demonstrate power, I have requested a thorough investigation,” he added. “In reviewing the video footage, it’s clear that Dauloloma was performing well in the match. It should not have escalated to that level.”

BCF chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that a press conference is scheduled for this morning in Suva.
