The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently investigating a brawl that occurred during the Fiji heavyweight title fight, as well as another related incident at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka. The inquiry follows a directive from Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, who has requested that the Commission announce their decisions regarding those involved in the altercation by today.
Saukuru expressed his concerns, emphasizing that these incidents are unacceptable in professional boxing. “Boxing is a sport. People are trying to assert their dominance, but I have asked them to investigate,” he stated. He noted that the video footage indicates that fighter Dauloloma was performing well in the match and that the situation escalated unnecessarily.
BCF chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that a press conference is scheduled for this morning in Suva to address the situation.
