The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently investigating a brawl that took place during the heavyweight title fight at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event on Saturday night in Sigatoka. This investigation follows a directive from the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, who has requested that the Commission announce their findings on the involvement of those in the altercation by today.
Saukuru voiced his concerns to the BCF and emphasized the unacceptable nature of such incidents in professional boxing. He stated, “Boxing is a sport. People are trying to exercise their power, but I have asked them to investigate.” He remarked that one of the fighters, Dauloloma, was performing well before the brawl escalated, indicating that the match should not have reached such a level of conflict.
BCF chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that a press conference will be held in Suva this morning to address the situation.
