The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently examining the brawl that took place during the Fiji heavyweight title fight as well as another related incident at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night. This investigation was initiated following a directive from Jese Saukuru, the Minister for Youth and Sports, who has requested the Commission to announce their findings today regarding the individuals involved in the disturbances.
Minister Saukuru expressed his concerns about the situation and emphasized that such occurrences are unacceptable in professional boxing. He remarked, “Boxing is a sport. People are trying to exercise their power but I have asked them to investigate.” He also noted that the video evidence shows that Dauloloma was performing well in the match, adding that the conflict should not have escalated to that level.
BCF chairman Adi Narayan has confirmed that a press conference is scheduled for this morning in Suva to address the issue.
