Fiji Boxing Brawl: Commission Under Fire for Heavyweight Fight Fallout

The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently investigating a brawl that broke out during the heavyweight title fight along with another related incident at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night. This inquiry was initiated following a directive from Jese Saukuru, the Minister for Youth and Sports, who has requested that the Commission announce their findings on the incidents today.

Saukuru expressed his concerns regarding the incidents and emphasized the government’s stance on ensuring such events do not occur in professional boxing. He stated, “At the moment, we are leaving it with the Boxing Commission of Fiji board to look into it and investigate what had happened.” He pointed out that boxing is meant to be a sport and emphasized the need for an investigation, noting that Dauloloma was performing well in the match before the situation escalated.

Adi Narayan, the chairman of the BCF, confirmed that a press conference is scheduled for this morning in Suva to address the details of the investigation.
