The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) directors are currently investigating a brawl that occurred during the Fiji heavyweight title fight, along with another related incident, at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion event held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night.
This investigation was prompted by a directive from the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, who has requested the Commission to announce their findings today regarding those involved in the incident.
Saukuru expressed his concerns, stating, “We are leaving it with the Boxing Commission of Fiji board to look into it and investigate what had happened. I have shared with them my concern and the concern of Government.” He emphasized that such occurrences are unacceptable in professional boxing, noting, “Boxing is a sport. People are trying to exercise their power but I have asked them to investigate.”
Saukuru also mentioned that video footage showed that fighter Dauloloma was performing well and that the situation should not have escalated as it did.
BCF Chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that a press conference is scheduled for this morning in Suva to address the matter.
