The Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) is currently investigating a brawl that broke out during the Fiji heavyweight title fight at the Bluewater Boxing Promotion held at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Saturday night.
The investigation was prompted by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, who has requested that the Commission announce their findings today regarding the individuals involved in the incident.
Saukuru expressed his serious concerns about the occurrence of such conflicts in professional boxing. “At the moment, we are leaving it with the Boxing Commission of Fiji board to look into it and investigate what had happened,” he stated. He emphasized that boxing is a sport and that such behavior is unacceptable.
He noted that according to video footage, fighter Dauloloma was performing well in the match, and the situation should not have escalated.
BCF chairman Adi Narayan confirmed that a press conference will be held in Suva this morning to provide further information.
