Local boxing enthusiasts have much to anticipate as the Boxing Commission of Fiji (BCF) gears up for a thrilling series of events in the professional boxing calendar for 2026. BCF Chairman Adi Narayan announced that several promoters have put forth engaging proposals that promise to elevate the sport in Fiji.
Zeg Boxing Promotions is poised to kick off the year’s events with a program scheduled for March 28 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, following the approval of its new promoter, Alfaaz Mallam. This inaugural event is expected to set the tone for an exciting year ahead.
In a landmark development, Blue Waters Promotions is organizing two significant events, the first of which will take place in April. Mohammed Sameer Khan, representing Blue Waters, is actively negotiating with fighters in New Zealand for an exhilarating matchup at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on April 25. This event is noteworthy as it will showcase competitors from five countries—New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, India, and Fiji—marking a historic milestone for professional boxing in the region by featuring four foreign nations.
Additionally, Alan Kumar’s Bula Sports Events has plans for two events in 2026, with one targeted for April and the other slated for October. Confirmation of the exact dates is pending as they await venue arrangements.
Chairman Narayan expressed optimism that all six planned events will uphold the BCF’s standards, ensuring a vibrant and dynamic year for professional boxing in Fiji. The participation of multiple countries highlights the growing international appeal of boxing in Fiji and promises to excite local fans. As the year unfolds, the anticipation builds for what could be a transformative period for the sport in the nation.
