A Fiji-born entrepreneur is making waves in the Dayton region after arriving in the United States through a Diversity Visa lottery. Ashwin Narayan, who was just a teenager when he and his family immigrated, has successfully built a thriving business, operating several UPS Store franchises located in Washington Township, Blue Ash, and Westchester.
Speaking to the Dayton Daily News, Narayan described the transition as a “complete culture shock,” yet he and his family were resolute in their desire to improve their lives. After serving in the United States Air Force, Narayan ventured into the business world, purchasing his first UPS Store in 2013. His entrepreneurial journey has been marked by steady expansion, driven by a combination of strategic foresight and active community involvement.
Reflecting on his early experiences as a business owner, Narayan shared how he worked diligently to enhance the store’s operations, allowing his team to thrive. His success story is illustrative of the vital role immigrant entrepreneurs play in boosting the local economy, fostering community growth, and creating new job opportunities.
Narayan is not only focused on his business but is also dedicated to giving back to those who serve in the military. His vision includes continuing to expand his business, with aspirations to operate ten UPS Store locations in the future. This ambition highlights not just personal success but also a commitment to enhancing the entrepreneurial landscape in the Dayton area.
