Fiji Bolsters Defense Ahead of Key World Cup Qualifiers

Two defenders from London have been included in the 29-member extended squad of the Bula Boys for the upcoming matches in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Oceania Qualifiers. Scott Wara, a defender for Stafford Rangers, and Josh Qereqeretabua, who plays for Charlton Athletic, have both previously represented Fiji in age-group World Cups and are expected to bolster the team’s defense.

The squad also features several overseas players, including Captain Roy Krishna, Nabil Begg from Auckland, Wellington’s Mohammed Raheem, Sydney-based goalkeeper Jerome Narayan, and Sydney United midfielder Leroy Jennings.

Fiji kicked off its qualifying campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over the Solomon Islands in Suva on October 10, with the goal scored by Roy Krishna. The team will travel to Papua New Guinea next month to compete against the hosts and New Caledonia in their remaining Group A matches.

In the opening match, New Caledonia secured a 3-1 victory over Papua New Guinea in Suva. Under the guidance of coach Rob Sherman, the Bula Boys will begin their training camp on Sunday, October 29, at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.
