Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s: Day of Ups and Downs

Day three of the Fiji Bitter Wairiki 7s Carnival at the Wairiki Parish Grounds in Taveuni brought a series of mixed results as teams entered the elimination stages, starting at 1:30 PM with under-18 to under-21 matches.

In the elimination rounds for the Under 18-21 category, notable results included Aloha Taveuni defeating Naveibasaga with a score of 31-0 and Waitabu achieving a 26-0 victory over Breakthrough Brothers. In other matches, St Teresa Naba edged past Sausauvou Taveuni 14-12, while Aquapro Savuiqali played to a 14-14 draw with Dominion Brothers.

In the Men’s Category, Police Blue secured a significant 33-0 win over Fiji Pine Brothers, and Wairiki Old Boys narrowly defeated Ucunivatu Rugby 19-14. The Somosomo Sharks faced a 17-7 loss against WT Tribals, while Raiwasa Taveuni maintained a strong performance, defeating Viwa Rugby 12-0.

Other matches saw Kingston Waidigi losing to Bula Brothers 19-14 and VDM Black Heron falling 17-0 to TEMC Island Warriors. In the Women’s Category, Ucunivatu Women’s Rugby faced a tough challenge against Tagimoucia Ranadi, ending the match at 41-0, while Naselesele lost 26-7 to Lilian Amazon.

Despite the varied outcomes, the event showcases the competitive spirit and talent present in Fijian rugby, with each match providing valuable experience for the players and teams involved.
