The 49th edition of the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is scheduled to occur from March 20 to 22, 2025, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This event marks the thrilling conclusion of the Fiji Bitter 7s series, featuring 52 men’s teams competing for top honors. The tournament structure includes super pools for the eight strongest teams, while the remaining squads will participate in standard pools labeled A to K.
Enhancing the excitement, there will be competitions in the under-21 category with 24 teams divided across eight pools, along with three pools featuring women’s teams. Furthermore, the tournament embraces youth participation by including under-18 boys and girls competitions, emphasizing the commitment to developing future rugby talents.
The Marist 7s holds significant importance in the Fiji Bitter 7s series, which has seen teams travel around Fiji for six months leading up to this event. Currently leading the series is Viti Roofing Devo Babas, who has the chance to secure the overall title and gain an additional 100 bonus points in the final phase of the competition. Close competitors, such as Wardens Gold and BLK Lavidi Brothers, are eager to improve their standings, adding to the competitive spirit.
Devo Babas has had an impressive run in the series, having won five tournaments, including prominent events at Wairiki, Labasa, Savusavu, Tabadamu, and Nawaka. Meanwhile, Wardens Gold celebrated victories at both the Kadavu and Yalovata 7s tournaments, showcasing the intense rivalry among the teams.
