Fiji Bitter Marist 7s 50th Anniversary Sparks Sevens Spectacle

The highly anticipated Fiji Bitter Marist 7s, celebrating 50 years of rugby heritage, is set to take place from March 26-28, 2026, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This landmark event will host 120 teams, marking the final leg of the Fiji Bitter 7s series and showcasing a diverse array of talent.

The competition will feature 64 men’s teams, 12 women’s teams, 32 under-21, and 12 under-18 teams. An exciting new aspect of the tournament is the introduction of the MPasifika Shield, which will see teams from across the Pacific vying for the trophy.

In an effort to honor those who have contributed significantly to the development of grassroots rugby over the last five decades, the event will include a special legends match featuring former players. Additionally, a capping ceremony will recognize 50 individuals—players, officials, administrators, and pioneers—who have played pivotal roles in shaping the tournament’s legacy.

Fans attending the Marist 7s can look forward to an immersive experience including a builder experience zone, giveaways from Golden Roots Global Wings, interactive sessions with rugby legends, live entertainment, and various digital activations designed to enhance the celebratory atmosphere.

Organizers have expressed that the 50th Marist 7s will be a tribute to the shared passion, unity, and excellence that has characterized the event over the years. “The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is a celebration of the people who built this tournament; with our major sponsors Fiji Bitter, the players, supporters, officials, and partners,” the organizers stated. They emphasized that the Marist 7s remains a cornerstone of Fiji’s rugby calendar and a vital platform for emerging national and international stars.

The tournament theme, “The Builder,” pays homage to its founder Marcellin Champagnat, symbolizing the deep roots of grassroots rugby and celebrating Fiji’s achievements, including its two Olympic gold medals. As the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s approaches, the anticipation grows for a vibrant celebration of rugby’s enduring spirit and community impact.
