Fiji Bitter has reaffirmed its dedication to grassroots rugby development in Fiji with the launch of the Fiji Bitter Malake 7s, the second leg of the Fiji Bitter 7s Series, which took place at the Paradise Beverages (Fiji) Ltd offices in Suva.

The tournament was officially announced by tournament coordinator Isoa Tute and the head of marketing at Fiji Bitter, Etrina Simpson, who signed a sponsorship agreement. Tute expressed gratitude towards the sponsors, as Fiji Bitter supports the tournament for a third consecutive year, featuring 32 teams in the men’s division, 24 in the U21 category, and eight women’s teams.

“This year presents us with another opportunity to accomplish our goals in rugby as well as contribute to village development,” Tute stated. The village development initiative involves the second phase of a local Methodist Church on Malake Island, which has faced significant damage from previous cyclones.

Simpson emphasized that the tournament not only showcases emerging rugby talent but also plays a crucial role in supporting local sustainability efforts. “The Malake 7s not only highlights rugby talent but also supports local sustainability initiatives, which is a point of pride for us at Fiji Bitter,” Simpson remarked.

The Fiji Bitter Malake 7s is set to commence tomorrow and will conclude this Saturday at the Narauyabe Sports Ground in Rakiraki.
