The Vodafone Fiji Bati will have to postpone their Pacific Cup ambitions for another year after failing to secure a spot, following the Papua New Guinea Kumuls’ victory in the Pacific Bowl Championship over the weekend.

The Kumuls triumphed over the Cook Islands Aitu with a score of 42-20 at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby. Although the Kumuls had a shaky beginning, they rallied impressively in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, scoring seven tries to solidify their place for a potential promotion.

Looking ahead, the Kumuls are set to face the New Zealand Kiwis in a decisive match at CommBank Stadium this Sunday, scheduled for 7:20 pm.

This setback for the Fiji Bati serves as a motivation to train harder and aim for stronger performances in future tournaments. The competition remains fierce in the Pacific rugby scene, but it presents a valuable opportunity for growth and determination among the Fijian players.
