Michael Jennings, a seasoned veteran, achieved a hat-trick as the Vodafone Fiji Bati dominated the Cook Islands with a score of 56-6 in their second match of the NRL Pacific Bowl Championship held in Suva.

The Cook Islands initially took the lead thanks to Rua Ngatikaura’s quick score, but the Fijians responded impressively, netting four tries in quick succession. Sunia Turuva was the first to contribute to the scoreboard, followed by Jennings, who scored two tries, while Kitione Kautoga rounded off the first half’s scoring. Taane Milne converted all the tries, giving Fiji a solid 24-6 lead at halftime.

The second half was completely controlled by Fiji, who overwhelmed the Cook Islands’ defense, scoring six additional tries. Semi Valemei and Maika Sivo each added two tries, while Jennings and Ben Nakubuwai also scored.

Milne showcased his skills by accumulating 230 meters, alongside his seven conversions and three offloads.

This victory keeps the Fiji Bati’s hopes alive for the Pacific Bowl and a chance for promotion to the Pacific Cup in 2025. For their chances to prosper, they will need the Cook Islands to defeat Papua New Guinea in the upcoming Week 3.
