Fiji Bati vs. PNG Kumuls: A Clash of Redemption Awaits!

The Vodafone Fiji Bati team is set to face the Papua New Guinea Kumuls in the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup match, just days away, with the Kumuls looking to avenge their defeat from last year.

In a surprising turn of events last year, the Bati triumphed over the Kumuls with a score of 43-16 while playing in Papua New Guinea during the Pacific Nations Cup clash.

Fiji Bati Head Coach Wise Kativerata recognizes the Kumuls’ intent for revenge and anticipates a challenging match. He emphasized the need for the team to remain focused, stating that the main priority is to support the Fiji Bati.

“This year, our squad features a blend of seasoned and young players, creating a well-rounded team for the upcoming competition,” Kativerata noted.

He has been in contact with the experienced players as the team prepares and has observed the PNG team’s determination to secure a victory.

Kativerata praised PNG coach Jason for his enthusiastic support of the team and their aspirations to enhance their presence in the National Rugby League (NRL). He views this development as beneficial for the Pacific region and for rugby league as a whole.

“Coach Jason has made it clear that they need this win to progress to the next level, especially with the support from the PNG and Australian governments regarding their NRL ambitions. This is a positive step for the Pacific region and for rugby league itself,” he said.

The Fiji Bati is scheduled to compete against the PNG Kumuls on the 19th of this month at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
