Rising star Kitione Kautoga from Fiji Bati has officially signed a development contract with the Parramatta Eels for the upcoming year. The NRL team made the announcement over the weekend, confirming that Kautoga will be part of their Top 30 squad.
Parramatta Eels general manager of football, Mark O’Neill, expressed enthusiasm about Kautoga’s potential, highlighting him as an exciting talent who adds value to the team. “His inclusion in our preseason training will allow him the opportunity to fit into our systems and build rapport with his teammates. We have confidence that, with the support of our coaching staff, he will continue to develop and excel,” O’Neill stated in an interview with the club’s media team.
Kautoga recently received an early release from his previous club, the Bulldogs. This past season, he participated in two first-grade games for the Bulldogs, playing brief stints against the Storm and the Roosters. He made his NRL debut in August 2022 while playing for the Wests Tigers, and in addition, he showcased his skills internationally by debuting for the Fiji Bati during the Pacific Bowl Championship in Papua New Guinea last year.
This move to the Parramatta Eels represents a significant opportunity for Kautoga to further his career and develop his skills at a higher level. As he embarks on this new chapter, fans and supporters are eager to see his growth and contributions to the team.
In summary, Kautoga’s transition to the Eels marks a promising step in his professional journey, and with dedicated training and mentorship, he has the potential to make a notable impact in the NRL. This development is not only beneficial for Kautoga but also adds depth and talent to the Parramatta Eels’ roster as they prepare for the next season.
