Fiji Bati Gears Up: Can They Overcome the Cook Islands Challenge?

Wise Kativerata and the Vodafone Fiji Bati team are focused on reducing errors and addressing weaknesses as they prepare for their upcoming match against the Cook Islands Aitu in the second week of the Pacific Championships. During a training session at Albert Park, the team concentrated on key areas for improvement.

Kativerata has pointed out that the Cook Islands are tough opponents who will confront the Bati head-on, stating, “We know the Cook Islands are not going to go around us; they are going to go through us.” He emphasized that the focus remains on enhancing the Bati’s performance since last week’s game.

With limited time to prepare—only a week before facing the Aitu—Kativerata noted that there are unlikely to be many changes to the current lineup, although adjustments might occur based on the team’s training as the week progresses. He mentioned, “We’ve only got a one-week turnaround to get going again,” highlighting the stability of the player roster.

Despite a 10-22 loss to the Papua New Guinea Kumuls over the weekend, the coach reported that team spirit and morale are still high. The Fiji Bati is set to compete against the Cook Islands at 8:10 PM this Saturday at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
