Badminton Fiji is gearing up for its 2026 season, kicking off with the highly anticipated Oceania Championships set to take place in New Zealand next month. National coach Steven Low has shared that preparations have been in full swing since last year, starting with a dedicated training camp held in December.
Low expressed his satisfaction with the athletes’ recent performances, indicating that significant progress has been made. “Throughout our December training camp, we focused on our athletes’ weaknesses that needed improvement before the tournament. This approach aims to ensure they compete effectively against international players. Mastering their skills will not only prepare them for this competition but also foster their growth through the experience,” he stated.
A 10-member squad, featuring six men and four women, will be selected to represent Fiji in the championships. The tournament is scheduled to run from February 8 to 12 at the Badminton North Harbor Centre in Auckland. With thorough preparations and a clear focus on skill enhancement, Badminton Fiji is poised to make a strong showing at this prestigious event.
