The Fijian Government has announced that Dr. Peggy Ravusiro, the winner of the Miss Fiji 2025 pageant, will represent the country at the Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026. This decision comes after a Cabinet meeting that also sanctioned public funding for both events.
Acting Prime Minister Filimoni Vosarogo confirmed that the government approved a budget of $198,000 intended for the organization of the Miss Fiji Pageant 2025 and the Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026, through a Service Agreement finalized on December 3, 2025. He emphasized that the cabinet expects the pageant organizers to comply with this decision and respect the established guidelines for representation.
Mr. Vosarogo highlighted the importance of adhering to the government’s directives, especially since public funds are involved in the financing of these events. He stated, “This is not just any decision. It is the decision of the apex body of decision-making of the Government.” He reiterated that maintaining public confidence is crucial when governmental resources are at stake.
The anticipation for the Miss Pacific Island Pageant 2026 is high, as Fiji looks forward to hosting this regional event again after a gap of seven years. The Acting Prime Minister expressed eagerness about welcoming contestants from across the Pacific, underscoring the significance of clarity in representation for the integrity and success of the pageant.
This announcement not only reinforces the partnership between the government and cultural events but also aims to ensure that Fiji continues to hold a prestigious role in regional representation. The Miss Pacific Island Pageant is expected to showcase talent and beauty from the Pacific islands, promoting cultural exchange and unity among the member nations.
